CENTRAL COLORADO EVENTING BYLAWS
Revised and approved March 2025

PURPOSE: Our club's purpose is to grow the sport of eventing in Colorado and Area IX. This will be accomplished through supporting the maintenance of Spring Gulch Equestrian Park to make it accessible and safe for public use, organizing fun and educational activities for members of CCE, and hosting Horse Trials for all of Area IX to participate in.

Article 1. The name of this organization shall be Central Colorado Eventing.

Article 2. A quorum for the conduct of business at meetings shall consist of one- third of the Executive Committee.

Article 3. The Executive Committee shall consist of officers–president, vice- president(s), secretary, treasurer and delegate–and Committee chairpersons appointed by the president. The Executive Committee shall establish policies and coordinate club activities and shall hold meetings as deemed necessary. Officers shall be elected annually and take office 1 February.  If an officer resigns, they may be replaced with a majority vote.

Article 4. Amendments to this Constitution shall be made by two-thirds vote of the Executive Committee.

Article 5. The CCE shall have the right to adopt any bylaws deemed necessary to proper functioning of the organization.

Section 1. Members

1. Any person who has paid dues at the approved rate and signed a liability release shall be considered a member of CCE.
   B. An individual member is 18 years and over.
   C. A Junior member is any member under 18 years on January 1st.

Section 2. Membership

Membership types and costs are determined by majority vote.
A. Individual membership shall be available to any individual 18 years and over and entitles that member to a full vote.
B. Junior membership shall be available to any individual under 18 years of age on January 1st and entitles that member to one full vote.
C. Family membership shall be available to two or more family members of the same family and entitles that membership to one vote.
D. Subscribing membership shall be available to any individual and entitles that member to all mailings. Schooling pass at Spring Gulch is not included.
E. Horse Owner Memberships are for the owners of the horses competing for year-end awards. This membership entitles that member to all mailings but does not include a schooling pass.
F. All membership dues shall be determined by a majority vote of the Executive Committee.

Section 3. Meetings

A. Regular meetings shall be held monthly, if possible, at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
B. Special meetings may be called by a quorum of the members or by the Executive Committee. Time and place will be announced on the organization calendar on the organization's website at least seven (7) days in advance.

Section 4. Duties of Elected Officers

A. The President shall:
1.  Preside at all official club meetings and functions.
2.  Break ties in a vote of the Executive Committee.
3.  Appoint Committee chairpersons.
4.  Oversees all operations pertaining to the horse trials

1. The Vice-President shall:
   1. Assist the president in the performance of duties and act for her/him in the president’s absence.
   2. Organizes clinics.
   3. Organizes the annual end of year banquet and awards.
   4. Organizes awards for the end of horse trails and combined tests run by the organization.
   5. Collect points from members to calculate year-end awards.
2. The Secretary
   1. Handle and keep records of all transactions, business and correspondence.
   2. Keep minutes of the meetings.
   3. Communicate with members and/or Social Media Coordinator regarding club business and upcoming events.
   4. Maintain membership roster, addresses, receive and process new memberships.
3. The Treasurer
   1. Collect all dues and other monies and act as custodian thereof.
   2. Pay all bills authorized by the Executive Committee.
   3. Keep a complete record of all financial business and send out monthly accounts statement.
   4. Handle maintenance of governing documents (i.e. Constitution and Bylaws).
   5. Address administrative items pertaining to the organization's status as a club in Colorado.

Standing Committees -

Show Maintenance -
- Manages show grounds and facility preparation for competitive events.
- Manages volunteers leading up to and on the day of competition.
- Perform show secretary duties for combined tests: advertise show, create entry form, accept entries, designate ride times, prepare dressage tests, communicate with competitors, etc.

Sponsorships
- Manages sponsorships and partnerships.
- Organizes gifts/prizes at the end of horse trails and combined tests

Social Media
-Promotes activities, make announcements, and recruit followers through CCE sanctioned social media forums.

Section 5. Awards

A. Eligibility - To receive a high point award at any level, both the rider and the owner of the horse must be members of CCE and points must have been earned by the same horse-rider combination in the competition year. Membership applications must be received prior to the first day of any competition that you wish to include for consideration of year end awards.

1. Volunteer Hours – Volunteer hours can be earned for approved volunteering services at any USEA, Non-USEA show or ‘schooling show’, or other educational events such as Ride-a-Test, Hunt Derby, or Pair Pace held at Spring Gulch that are able to be recorded on the VIP Website.

   To qualify for year end awards, a minimum of 2 boots-on-the-ground volunteer hours specifically at Spring Gulch and a total of 4 hours volunteered are required.

   ***Hours must be approved by the Horse Show Organizer and or the volunteer coordinator.  All volunteer hours must be completed and approved within 10 days of the last event held at Spring Gulch in the competition year.***

2. Volunteer Points - A rider may earn an additional 2 points towards their year-end awards if they volunteer a minimum of 10 hours at Spring Gulch in the competition year. Volunteer hours must be boots-on-ground on designated volunteer days, events or pre-arranged by the executive committee.
3. Call of Awards- To be eligible, each rider/horse combination must submit an itemized listing of places and points earned to the Vice President within one month of the last event of the calendar year or with “call for awards,” whichever comes first.
4. Events- Points for Year-end awards of CCE can be accumulated at any event that follows USEA rules and is held in the Area IX CCE area only, including local CCE Schooling shows. Points for the FEI Trophy may be earned outside of Area IX.
5. Multipliers for Events:
6. Single Points- Non-USEA events or ‘Schooling Shows’ (Two & Three phase) and USEA recognized FEI CIC/CCI events (including outside area IX) – point system based on starters. See Awards “F” for details.
   b. Double Points- USEA recognized Horse Trials
   c. Triple Points - USEA Area IX Championship Horse Trials
   d. Quadruple Points - American Eventing Championship Horse Trial (AEC) and USEA recognized 3-Day Event (long format)
7. Point Basis- The point configuration is based on a minimum of 6 starters per division. If there are fewer than 6 starters the point tally will be reduced by ½.  Points are given to the top 8 placings as follows:

1st Place – 8 points
2nd Place – 7 points
3rd Place – 6 points
4th Place – 5 points
5th Place - 4 points
6th Place – 3 points
7th Place – 2 points
8th Place – 1 point

1. FEI Points, horse and rider combination must complete 1*, 2* 3* or 4* FEI Event. All riders who complete an FEI Competition will receive 2 points. For horse/rider combinations finishing in the top 20 placings, they will receive additional points, up to 20 points as follows:

1st Place – 20 points
2nd Place – 19 points
3rd Place – 18 points
…

20th Place – 1 point

Total points will then be multiplied depending on the star level as follows:

Single 1*
Double 2*
Triple 3*
Quadruple 4*

Example, 2nd place at a 3-star event = 3 (2+19) = 63 points

1. Ties- Ties will be broken by the following procedure: the winner will have the highest average of his/her top 3 scores at that level. If the horse/rider combination has less than 3 completions at that level then they will be placed 2nd in the tie.
2. Combined levels.I/P Division placings shall be calculated as Preliminary Level and T/P Division placings shall be calculated as Modified Division placings.

Section 6. CCE Year-End Trophies

1. Platinum Farms FEI Champion Trophy– pewter horse & rider jumping, donated by Platinum Farms in 2020 awarded to the high point horse and rider combination at any FEI Level Event.
2. High Point Advanced– Pewter Horse Statue, donated by Pendragon Stud Equestrian Center-Laura Backus in 1999. Awarded to the high point horse/rider combination at Advanced level in CCE.
3. High Point Intermediate– Large Silver Bowl, donated by CCC in 1997. Awarded to the high point horse/rider combination at the Intermediate level in CCE.
4. Modified Award – donated by the Horowitz Family 2022, awarded to the high point horse and rider combination at Modified level.
5. Blue Mountain Preliminary Trophy (High Point Prelim) – Silver Bowl, donated by the Rudolf family in 1981. Awarded to the high point horse /rider combination at the Preliminary level in CCE.
6. Will He Perpetual Trophy (1st Year Prelim) – Silver Tray, donated by Shelley Barnhardt & Company in 1996 in memory of “Will He” Lynn Klisavage’s partner for many years. Awarded to the high point First Year Preliminary Horse in CCE.
7. High Point Young Rider (Prelim and above) – Large Ceramic Horse Head w/ wood base, donated by Prestige Training- James Moore and John Kelly in 2003. Awarded to the high point horse/rider combination at Preliminary Level and above in CCE. Young riders are defined as 25 years of age or younger.
8. President’s Trophy - Open Training – Water pitcher, donated by Mary Rose in 1976 for the high point Training horse/rider combination in CCE.
9. Amateur Training Trophy – Plaque, donated by the Fine family in 2004. Awarded to the high point Senior rider/horse combination in CCE.
10. Junior Training Trophy – Carousel Horse, Donated by the Byyny family in 1985. Awarded to the high point Junior rider/horse combination in CCE.
11. Stokes Pre-Training (Novice) Trophy– Silver Ice Bucket, Donated by Elizabeth Stokes in 1976. Awarded to the top Open Novice combination in CCE.
12. Amateur Novice Trophy – Silver Plate, Donated by CCC in 1988. Awarded to the top Amateur Novice rider/horse combination in CCE.
13. Junior Novice Trophy – Silver Pitcher, donated by the Smith family in 1982. Awarded to the top Junior Novice rider/horse combination in CCE.
14. Amateur Beginner Novice Trophy – Wood base w/ Gold Horse Head, donated by Abbe Ranch in 1993. Awarded to the top Senior Beginner Novice horse/rider combination in CCE.
15. Open Beginner Novice Trophy – Silver Cup, donated by Maidstone Farm in 1991. Awarded to the high point Open Beginner Novice horse/rider combination in CCE.
16. Beginner Novice Junior Rider Trophy – Gold & Silver Cup with Horse on top, donated by Platinum Farms – Rochelle Costanza in 2007. Awarded to the high point junior Beginner Novice horse/rider combination in CCE.
17. Starter Senior Rider Trophy – Child & Pony on wood base, donated by Platinum Farms –Rochelle Costanza in 2012 in memory of Avery Dudasch. Awarded to the high point starter horse/rider combination in CCE.

    R. Starter Junior Trophy - Abstract metal horse on wood base, donated by the Zirker Family in 2024. Awarded to the high point junior starter horse/rider combination in CCE.

18. High Point Horse of the Year - Silver Ice Bucket donated In Loving Memory of Grieko The Amazing to the overall high point horse in CCE.
19. Trainer of the Year Award – pewter “leg-up” rider and trainer on wood base, donated by Wendy Fryke in 2007. Awarded to the Trainer with the most overall combined points (students & personal) in CCE.
20. Leslie Terry Award – Large Silver Tray, donated by CCC in honor of Leslie Terry. Awarded to the CCE member who makes an outstanding contribution to the sport of eventing.
21. Spirit of Eventing Award – wood plaque, donated by the Severs family in 2016 in memory of Lydia Dequine. Awarded to a junior recognized for their outstanding sportsmanship in the Eventing community. The nominee must have been recommended by a trainer or parent who exemplifies outstanding sportsmanship in the Eventing community and an active CCE Member. The Nominee must be under the age of 18 with at least 4 volunteer hours and no warnings verbal or written from TD at recognized HT with-in the nomination year.

Section 7. Liquidation
Should the club be divested, all sums remaining after debts are paid are to be donated to the United States Equestrian Team or another tax-exempt organization.
